Whistling Woods collaborates regularly on student co-productions with a variety of film & media schools, such as Tisch Asia (Singapore), University of Hertfordshire, Leeds University (UK), Columbia Film School, Victoria School of Arts (Canada), University of Calgary (Canada) and several others.
Street, Documentary, Travel Or Lifestyle Photography
The Whistling Woods Cinematography Department leads short courses in digital and analogue photography, putting to use the Institute’s darkroom and studio facilities.
Cinematography Digital & Film
The Whistling Woods Cinematography Department develops focused workshops around mastering the art of painting with light through camera techniques, the use of state-of-the-art lights, cranes and HD, Film & 3D cameras.
3D Filmmaking From The Sony Media & Technology Center
The Sony Media & Technology Center at Whistling Woods offers training to students on the complete 3D Cinematography Workflow within the US$5 million facilities at the WWI campus.
AURO 3D
Auro-3D is an immersive 3D audio format. It is designed along three layers of sound (surround, height and overhead ceiling), building on the single horizontal layer used in the 5.1 sound format. Auro-3D creates a spatial sound field by adding a height layer around the audience on top of the traditional 2D surround sound system. We can also have workshops for instruction in this technology.
Screenwriting-focus Workshops & Labs
The Whistling Woods Screenwriting Department, headed by Anjum Rajabali, lead focused screenwriting workshops & creative labs around the world. Previous initiatives include the Mumbai Mantra Sundance Institute’s Screenwriters Lab, SAFF Cananda and the IndoGerman Film Week Initiative.
Claymation, Stopmotion Or 2D/3D Animation Workshops
The Whistling Woods School of Animation has collaborated with the Photography Department of Bradford College (UK) on a stop-motion co-production called ‘Music of Life’ which premiered at the Bradford Animation Film Festival and went on to win several film festival accolades.
Sound Recording & Design Including Music Composition & Recording
The Whistling Woods Sound Recording & Design Department Designs courses that utilize campus facilities like the Music Recording Studio, the Dolby Digital Film Surround Mix Studio, Digital Audio Workstation Suites, ADR Suites, and location sound recording equipment.
Acting For Screen/Theater
Noted Indian theater director & Head of the Whistling Woods Actors’ Studio, Shernaz Patel leads short courses on acting for Theater or Screen, with a component on film or stage performance.
